How Early Is Too Early to Prepare for Christmas?

Is It Too Early to Prepare for Christmas?

Hmm. We're guessing you're not too sure, and that's fine, because there's no definitive answer to be had here.

When planning for Christmas, everyone has their own different ideas. From the Boxing Day sale grabbers, stocking up on Xmas paper and decorations for the following year, to the last minute Christmas Eve shoppers - everyone is different.

Well, being avid planning supporters, we think that it's almost never too early to start planning for something. Let us explain why...

It's Time for Some Christmas Planning!

When we say it's alsmot never too early to start planning, we agree that it is not always practical to plan ahead. For instance, if you don't have a boyfriend and are not engaged, then planning a wedding for next year seems rather pointless.

What we do know though, is Christmas comes around at the same time each year, and planning for it ahead of time makes sense because:

  • you can nab those special bargains as they come on sale
  • you have plenty of time to find gifts for the super hard to buy for people
  • it gives you the opportunity to find the really unique gifts
  • it keeps you in control, not the time you have left
  • you understand your limitations and budget much better when you think ahead
  • you have time to hand make gifts
  • you'll be less stressed
  • you avoid those busy crowds and be able to relax instead

Tips On Planning for Christmas

Yup, here's the bit you've been looking for - our top tips on prepping and planning for Christmas. They are:

  • clean up the house - there's nothing quite like approaching the holidays with a clean house. Schedule jobs into days, weeks and months before the big day so there's no last minute rush.
  • plan some down time - it's a busy and stressful time, so make sure you plan some time to rest and relax.
  • allocate - there's no reason why you should do it all. Give jobs to others in the household too.
  • find out about postage dates early - if you are sending overseas or around the country, there's no reason why you should pay additional postage if you don't have to. Send it slow and cheap by finding out postage dates ahead of time.
  • create a shopping plan - write down who you are buying gifts for and what you think you'll get them.
