How to Organise Your Music Library

Organising your music library isn't that hard to do, but like many tasks, can seem overwhelming. Having a plan of what you're going to do always helps, so we've created one for you! Whether your music library consists of CDs, records, tape cassettes (what are those?) or songs saved on your device, this music organisational guide will help!

How to Achieve an Organised Music Library

Music plays a large role in the lives of many. WIth the ability to take us to places we've never been, we're surrounded by music on TV, the radio, the internet, when shopping, in the car and at home. Collecting music has been the hobby of many people from generations before, with records, tapes, CDs and now stored on our devices or in the cloud.

The question then becomes what is the best way to organise your digital music library?

Easy, just like how you would have organised a CD collection in the 'olden days:'

  • alphabetical order
  • artist first name
  • artist surname
  • type of music
  • song name
  • favourites
  • newness of album

There's a small difference though, in that you need to organise your music digitally and not on a shelf. This will mean using software which is pre-installed on your device, or that you find online. Some examples of such software include:

  • iTunes
  • Foobar 2000
  • Clementine
  • iSyncr
  • Media Monkey

The next question is, when will you organise your music library? Set a date and do it - and remember, using The Kiwi Planner diary record when you're going to organise your music library is a brilliant idea!
